How can Jodi Arias justify doing her allocution in 'open court' if she is not wiling to testify in 'open court'? By: Joey Jackson Fans Page.

QUESTION: How can Jodi Arias justify doing her allocution in 'open court' if she is not wiling to testify in 'open court'?
Arias already stated in open court to Judge Stephens, before the defense rested, that she wanted to complete her testimony but that she could not do so in an open courtroom. However when she gives her allocution at the end of the defense's surrebuttal case, it will be in 'open court'.
(Legal Definition of Allocution: The direct address between the judge and the convicted defendant prior to sentencing. During the address, the judge speaks directly to the defendant and asks if the defendant has anything to add prior to hearing the sentence. The defendant then answers the judge and may say anything in an effort to lessen the severity of the sentence, such as an apology, an offering of remorse, or an explanation of the motivations that drove the defendant's criminal actions.)
It will be very interesting to see if Arias offers an apology to the family for her murdering Travis. (She hasn't so far.) Will she show ANY remorse at all again for the murder of Travis? (So far she hasn't.) Would she ever offer an explanation as to the motivations that drove her to murdering Travis as she did? The truth? We've heard so many of her reasons, I honestly don't expect her EVER be truthful! But the allocution is the time to beg for her life and give reason why she should live. And she can say anything she wants for the jurors to hear and Juan Martinez cannot cross examine her at all. HOWEVER......if Jodi introduces ANYTHING 'new' in her allocution, then Juan Martinez can have the opportunity of rebutting. Fine line to walk Ms. Arias.

But my question to you is......if she can't testify in 'open court' and wants it all locked up in secret (nobody knows why), how is she going to be able to do her allocution in 'open court'? We're not there yet so who knows what tricks are up the sleeves of the defense? This is Jodi's LAST SHOT at the jurors before deliberations. I don't think this trial can become anymore bizarre than it already is.
But.....never say never! smile emoticon

One last thought, looking at this photo, is this the face that Jodi will greet the jurors with on that fateful day? It worked last time......what are your thoughts?
